What is HOCl
HOCl
Hypochlorous acid is a safe substance because there is little generation of chlorine gas and more than 95% of the effective chlorine concentration, which is a sterilizing material, exists in the form of HOCl, so it has a stronger sterilizing power than bleach(Sodium Hypochlorite).
Hypochlorous acid is largely divided into weak acidic, slightly acidic, and strongly acidic categories depending on the pH and manufacturing method and the places where it is used vary depending on the industry.
In particular, slightly acidic hypochlorous acid water is a safe detergent and disinfectant approved by the Food and Drug Administration, the Ministry of Environment, the U.S. FDA, and the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. It can be used as a food additive and disinfectant due to its close pH to the skin area.

with pH values
Hypochlorous acid was discovered in 1834 by the French chemist Antoine Jerome Ballard and was used for traumatic wound sterilization in World War I and II, proving its safety for more than 100 years.
However, because of hypochlorous acid's highly volatile properties, the old method of its production did not lead it to be widely distributed in large quantities. However, recent technological developments have made the commercial manufacturing of HOCl possible. Currently, HOCl is used in ophthalmology, dentistry, veterinary and wound treatments, cosmetics, and eco-friendly agricultural pesticides around the world and HOCl is actively researched.
Do you know about biofilm?
Biofilms are formed in the food industry, wounds, teeth, and even in the body and it causes energy loss and enables diseases caused by microbial infections. However, removing biofilm is not easy.
Hypochlorous acid water is excellent in preventing the formation of biofilm. Since HOCl is not irritating and does not affect the environment, it is used to control infections and is used in dental water, gargles, surgical disinfectants, and in cosmetics and dentistry depending on the concentration and pH value. It is also used to sterilize crops because it is effective in preventing certain types of fungi in plants. Various studies are still being conducted on the removal of biofilms using HOCl.
Since HOCl sterilizes non-spore viruses (norovirus, parvovirus, etc.) that cannot be disinfected with alcohol and spore viruses (food poisoning bacteria, influenza, etc.) without much stimulation, it is widely used as sterilizing water in the food industry, in other industry spaces and in animal hospitals.
Besides, it has a great effect on deodorization by removing the main causative bacteria of odor and is used in animal quarantine spaces, pet facilities, and livestock farms. .
SEEMS BIONICS' products are tested and proven to deliver high performance and safety. Inspired by nature, SEEMS BIONICS's biomimetic technology uses the active ingredient hypochlorite (HOCl), an environmentally friendly substance produced by the body's white blood cells, to fight infection.
The technology of SEEMS BIONICS has been recognized in Japan for more than 17 years and we are constantly striving to develop that technology.
